3 reasons to stop thinking about it and go for it

You know the score, you’ve read all the inspirational articles and you’ve probably heard it a million times before, there is no better time than today to just ‘go for it’. Whether it’s hitting the sign up button on WordPress to launch your first ever blog, kick-starting a brand new fitness routine or even running with your online business idea, we’re all guilty of holding back at some stage in our lives.

Here are three reasons why you’re completely and utterly fabulous, and why you should stop thinking about it and go for it!

  1. There is no perfect ‘start date’

‘I’ll start this when I’m better at that’. It’s easy to think like this, right? The fact is, everyone has to start somewhere. Taking that first ‘leap of faith’ will actually speed up your results and you’ll feel a sense of achievement much sooner than you’d expect. It’s daunting, but it makes the consequent steps SO much easier. True passion will let the rest flow, guiding you through a blissful process of learning. You’ll get the results that you desire.

Even the most successful people in the world didn’t feel ready and perfect when they started out. Take The Kardashians. Do we really think they waited for the right time to take the world by a storm?!… If everyone waited for this ‘right time’, we’d get nowhere and portable CD players would probably still be a thing (oh the horror).

  1. You’re more than capable of success

The potential, the self-belief, the confidence. You have them all, despite what you may think. Sometimes when we think about starting something new, we have a fear of failure and that we’re not good enough. This leads us to shut down new opportunities, that require taking a step out of your comfort zone, way too quickly.

To help, remember this:

  • You can achieve anything that you put your mind to, you just have to believe it. We put ourselves down every single day. Yet, we wouldn’t speak our best pals like this, would we? This kind of brain talk is going to damage your confidence. Try repeating and scribbling down affirmations that challenge these negative vibes.

For example, if you’ve got an important presentation coming up but you HATE public speaking, flip your worry on its head. Tell yourself this: ‘I am a confident presenter, the room will listen to me and will be interested in what I have to say.’

These positive statements are enough to remind yourself that you’re more than capable and worthy of results.

  1. You’ll enjoy the thrill and the benefits that your new venture or challenge has to offer

Use your new found venture as a chance to interact with individuals that you wouldn’t have before and ask lots of questions! It’s an amazing strategy for self-development. Immerse yourself in podcasts, YouTube and online blogs surrounding the subject of your destination – from fitness, blogging, online marketing to teaching. They share extremely valuable content from first-hand experience – make the most out of them! It’s pretty exciting that we have all this to learn from, aspire to and be inspired by, right at our fingertips.

When I first had the idea of launching my very own blog, it took a while to come to fruition (you can read how it all began here). Now, I’m glad I finally said ‘yes, let’s do this!’. Whatever your goal or idea may be, if something is holding you back, remember that there’s no better time than today to begin. Take a few moments to be confident, believe in yourself and think about the benefits you’ll encounter by making it a reality.

Do you have an idea in your head waiting for action? Is it an idea for monetising your blog, transforming your fitness routine, or trying out something completely new? Be sure to let me know in the comments below.

This is some great advice that everyone should follow! Especially the ‘No perfect start date” point. Too often I sat back and pondered and waited and worried when I should have just jumped in!

Excellent advice. I need to remember this the next time I want to do something but stop myself because I don’t feel it’s the right time to start or I’m lacking in confidence.

I LOVE this post- I think as I’ve gotten older the most important lesson I’ve learnt is the first, we have to stop waiting for the perfect time and just go for it!
